A/W 2013 Trend: Tartan

Hey everyone, today I thought I'd run through my favorite trend for Autumn and Winter. This features my thoughts on tartan along with some runway looks and affordable options for everyday.

Out of all the trends we're seeing this time of year tartan has to be my absolute favorite. This pattern was seen on the runways from Mulberry to Versace. And whether you style it as preppy and classic or grungy, it adds an instant Autumn feel to it. I really do feel as if tartan or plaid or what ever you want to call it, is a definite classic and is acceptable any fall and winter.

As seen in the Saint Laurent show. This is (probably) favorite look featuring plaid. I think a tartan dress is such an effortless way to incorporate plaid into an outfit. Go for a plaid with darker tones to give it an extra fall feel.

The following are some suggestions to incorporate plaid into you wardrobe.

This moto jacket is from byCorpus and is available at Urban Outfitters for $99. I absolutely love the green plaid and I think it's a twist from the normal red toned plaids that are out there. I think that the muted greens and the black made the jacket very Autumn appropriate.

Plaid can be worn as a bottom too, that's not in a masculine trouser. I'm totally in love with this skirt from Topshop. I absolutely love how the colors in this are not muted at all. I'm in love with muted and darker colors for Autumn and Winter however I do think switching it up and pairing something with bright and fresh colors is appropriate for the fall and winter time (especially orange which can be argued as a fall color anyway) Another thing I love about this skirt is the silhouette, at the moment a lot of skirts are the skater style, so having this mini skirt in a straight shape is a refreshing change. I think that this skirt would look amazing with a cropped sweater (or even one tucked in) to give it an extra Autumn-ish vibe on those days where it's not too chilly outside.

That's all for today's post. Thank you all so much for reading.
